The Original Bath Babe

My name is Stephany Tealinn + I believe travel is a powerful way to recharge, practice self-care + find inspiration in new places and faces

“To me, nothing about solo traveling is escaping; because there’s nothing more brave + present than to be still enough with ourselves so that we can explore the vast landscapes of our inner world”

— The Original Bath Babe

why bath babe?

Because bathing is a luxurious ritual that represents pausing + creating space for self-care, self-acceptance, and self-love. Most of us lead extremely hectic lives + rarely have the opportunity to be fully present. However, when we do take that time for ourselves, I’ve found that we can discover immense strength and beauty from within.

Motivated by this meaningful experience of bathing, I enjoy journeying around the world to discover the perfect bath + places to be still. From traditional thermal soaks to luxurious spa treatments or wellness programming by hotels, my travel experiences not only provides physical rest but also fosters a deeper connection to myself. These moments of curated "me-time" renew my inspiration and motivation, empowering me to be the change I wish to see in the world.

“Traveling for self care does not mean you have to fly solo, but it does mean intentionally carving time + space for yourself.”

my travel style

When choosing accommodations and experiences for this guide, my priorities include:

‣

(1) thoughtful + beautiful design

I’ve learned that surrounding myself with aesthetically pleasing environments and beautifully designed interiors is more than just a visual treat—it's a profound form of self-care. These spaces, thoughtfully curated with harmonious colors, elegant furnishings, and artistic touches, have an incredible power to inspire and uplift.

It's in these artfully designed retreats that I find my creativity flourishing, my mind unwinding, and my spirit rejuvenated. Being in such captivating settings not only enhances my travel experience but also nurtures my well-being, reminding me of the beauty in taking time to indulge in life's finer details.

‣

(2) solo traveller friendliness

Solo-travel friendliness goes beyond just safe accommodations; it’s about creating an environment where independent explorers feel welcomed and cared for. This means having all logistics seamlessly handled—from airport transfers to personalized itineraries—so you can focus on soaking up the adventure without any stress. It also includes the ability to have memorable conversations with the staff, who can offer insider tips and make you feel at home even when you’re miles away from your own.

For example, I’ve stayed at boutique hotels where the concierge went out of their way to introduce me to local hidden gems, and I’ve sat down at bars where I ended up chatting with the head bartender about their vision and concept for the venue. These thoughtful touches transform a solo trip into an enriching experience, allowing you to be inspired by not only the destination, but its people who are in their element creating a better world for us all.

‣

(3) wellness programming, spa offerings or bath tubs

Many self-care activities are intrinsically linked to water because water has long been associated with healing and relaxation. Historically, ancient civilizations like the Romans and Greeks harnessed the therapeutic properties of thermal springs and baths, believing in their ability to purify the body and soul. Water's natural buoyancy alleviates physical tension, reduces stress on joints, and promotes both physical and mental rejuvenation.

That’s why our guide features places that offer hydrotherapies — or at a minimum, provide access to a pool or a bathtub — helping us to disconnect from the outside world and focus on our well-being.

‣

(4) exclusivity, seclusion + privacy

I've discovered that carving out exclusive and private travel experiences is my secret to true luxury and personal rejuvenation. By selecting secluded villas and intimate boutique hotels, or joining private tours and hiring private drivers, I create a sanctuary where I can unwind and immerse myself fully in the beauty of my surroundings. This approach not only provides space from the bustling crowds but also allows me to cultivate a deeper connection with myself and the people I meet on a one-on-one basis. The essence of luxury is not just in opulence but in the tranquility and personalized attention that these experiences offer.

In addition, when I travel it is important to me to:

‣

get a good night’s sleep

gone are the days of hostels or being woken up by a stranger’s snoring. I want a comfortable, clean bed with a mattress that is neither too hard or too soft. accommodations offering various pillow selections also preferred.

‣

have strong wifi for digital nomad-ing

our work pays for our luxury down-time, so it’s ok to jump on an emergency conference call once in a while… but we better have strong wifi and data wherever we are.

‣

not wait in line...ever (or as much as possible)

time = money. so it’s true, i will not check in my luggage — unless it’s absolutely necessary — because i hate waiting on the other side. i’ll reconsider this the day i can start flying business.

‣

be able to wash my clothes

it’s very satisfying when your hotel allows you to have a few pieces washed for free. otherwise, staying close to a local self-service laundromat is key.

‣

eat what I want, when I want

which is why i love to travel solo + also why sometimes, it’s great to have a kitchenette in your accommodations to whip up some “home” cooking. browse my global top picks for private homes + villas + aparthotels.

‣

sleep + wake up when I want

self explanatory.

‣

find a good local photographer

photoshoots are my favorite airbnb experiences. not only do I get helpful content for @theoriginalbathbabe but photographers are also the best tour guides + introduces the places to you in a different way

‣

find a good bar

let’s be honest, it’s usually a hotel bar with good (live) music… I like to keep it classy. browse my global top picks + look for the ones that says “has a good bar” under “what i love about it”.

‣

get real-time updates on my travel logistics

this is why I swear by the tools in my travel toolkit:
